Great Tew is now a delightful village of thatched cottages with village green, school, pub and deli. But it was not always so. Within living memory the village was tumbling down, its thatched roofs ravaged and cottages uninhabitable. Now it's a delight to see.
There are publilc footpaths through the grounds of the Big House, whose typical - and lengthy - Cotswold drystone wall has recently been restored. The parkland of the Big House has many large and remarkable specimen trees, a delight to see. England has more of this type of parkland landscape than any other European country.
