2012 Olympics
The 2012 Olympics Games will be held in Stratford, East London, not Stratford-upon-Avon in central England. However, the International Shakespeare Festival will be a major part of the Cultural Olympiad from 2008 through to 2012 and links Stratford-upon-Avon with Stratford, London by involving both the RSC and The Globe Theatre. It will engage the relevance of Shakespeare to today’s modern struggles and competitiveness with Stratford’s across the world.
Shakespeare Country member, Roger Bailey who is a Blue Badge Guide, works in the heart of England and has completed a study course on the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games with specific reference to the 2012 Games. Roger is the only person outside London to have completed the course and is planning to conduct related tours, both in the Midlands and to associated locations such as London. For more information on this and other tours in the region, contact Roger Bailey.
