Stratford-upon-Avon

Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon is a picturesque town beautifully situated on the river and with a wealth of black and white timber framed buildings.  It is, of course, most famous for being the birthplace of the world's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare.

Enjoy a stroll around the town centre with its good selection of shops, restaurants and tearooms.  A great way to explore the town and the neighbouring villages of Shottery and Wilmcote (home to Anne Hathaway's Cottage and Mary Arden's) is with City Sightseeing's hop-on, hop off buses. Walking tours with Stratford Town Walk are also popular. There are other ways of seeing Stratford too. Why not hire a bike and cycle around the town, relax on a river cruise or hire your own boat.

There are plenty of family attractions, including Stratford Butterfly Farm and Stratford Mini Golf. Children will enjoy making their own rubbing at the Stratford Brass Rubbing Centre. Old and young alike will also enjoy a visit to The Falstaffs Experience, a living museum where history is brought to life with theatrical and atmospheric settings or visit the Creaky Cauldron which has a museum of Witchcraft and Wizardology which is one of Stratford's "must visit" attractions.
