What to do in the Evenings
Concerts, Dining Out, Live Entertainment, Theatres and Cinemas

Shakespeare Country has a wealth of things to keep you occupied during the evenings, from a wide range of excellent restaurants, theatre, cinemas, night clubs and live venues.

Enjoy mouth-watering dishes, freshly prepared by some of England's most talented chefs. Warwick, Kenilworth, Royal Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding towns and villages offer a particularly good choice of places to eat, drawing culinary inspiration from across the world.

Where better to enjoy a live theatre performance by the world's greatest playwright than in his hometown?  You will be moved by a performance from the Royal Shakespeare Company at either the newly re-built Royal Shakespeare Theatre or the re-furbished Swan Theatre.  April 2012 saw the start of the World Shakespeare Festival which ran through to October 2012 as part of the cultural olympiad.

For something different to do in Stratford upon Avon in the evening, why not try a Lantern Lit Ghost Tour.

There are a number of small theatre companies in Shakespeare Country including The Loft Theatre in Leamington Spa, Bridge House Theatre in Warwick, the Talisman and Priory Theatres in Kenilworth and the Belgrade in Coventry.  A number of touring companies also perform plays in Shakespeare Country including Chapterhouse, Lord Chamberlain's Men, Oddsocks and Shakespeare's Globe, who perform at such diverse locations as Coughton Court , Coventry Cathedral, Mary Arden's Farm, Packwood House  and Warwick Castle.

Live entertainment isn't restricted to theatre, some of our larger venues stage open air concerts.  Ragley Hall at Alcester had Jools Holland and his band on Saturday 2nd July 2011.  August 2012 went with a 'bang' with a Battle Proms concert on 11th August 2012 at Althorp Park and on 18th August 2012 at Ragley Hall.

If you prefer cinema to live theatre, there are two main cinemas locally, the Apollo in Leamington Spa and the PictureHouse in Stratford upon Avon.  There is also a 160 seat cinema within the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa.  We have other live venues around the area offering everything from comedy clubs to tribute bands to the best live music from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

If live music is more to your taste then you should really try out the award winning live music venue in Leamington Spa - The Assembly.
