Details

Deddington stands on an ironstone hill 6 miles south of Banbury and includes, within its parish, the hamlets of Clifton and Hempton. This picturesque village is built around the large Market Place, which is also the shopping area of the village with a concentration of shops, including the four-storey, 18th century Deddington Antiques Centre – the largest in the area. Deddington was largely unaffected by the Industrial Revolution as its high location meant that the village was bypassed by both the railway and canal routes, but it has consequently retained many of its older buildings, with over a 100 listed.
