Built in 1508 and set within 550 acres of walled park, Althorp has been the home of the Spencer family for 500 years. Today, Althorp contains one of the finest private collections of art, furniture and ceramics in the world.

Althorp is open on selected dates between 3rd May and 27th September in 2015.

Sunday 3rd; Monday 4th; Sunday 10th; Sunday 17th; Sunday 24th; Monday 25th; Sunday 31st.

Sunday 7th; Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th for the Althorp Literary Festival; Sunday 14th; Sunday 21st; Sunday 28th.

Sunday 12th; Friday 24th to Friday 31st.

Saturday 1st to Monday 31st.

Sunday 6th; Sunday 13th; Sunday 20th; Sunday 27th.

House and grounds open 1.00pm - 5.00pm
Last admission at 3.45pm for the House and 4.00pm for the Stables and Grounds.


All tickets to Althorp include entry to the grounds, the current exhibition in the Stables and a guided tour of the nineteen State Rooms of the House. All HHA Members and Friends will receive free entry with a valid membership card on any of Althorp¹s public opening dates during normal opening hours. All exhibitions and displays are subject to change. Please note that the Diana: A Celebration exhibition closed at Althorp in August 2013.

By Road:
The Park is located 7 miles west of Northampton off the A428.

From the South - Althorp is clearly signed as you approach Northampton from Junction 16 of the M1.

From the North - Althorp can be approached from junction 18 of the M1. Follow signs to Northampton.

The free car park is signed on your approach to Althorp, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the House. Disabled parking is available; please enquire at West Gate ticket office.
