St John's MuseumMuseumHoused in a Jacobean mansion, St John’s Museum showcases the social history collections. Galleries include a Victorian Kitchen and Schoolroom (used by local school children during term time for activities and learning sessions), displays on childhood, toys and games, costume and an under 5s discovery room. St John’s also has lovely formal gardens where you can sit and enjoy a picnic.
Facilities
Under normal circumstances, St John’s House Museum has its own free car park, although spaces are limited. Alternative parking can be found at St Nicholas Park. The museum has a small shop which offers a range of gifts to suit all ages. Public toilets are located within the house and include an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities.

You can help us by: observing all notices and signs during your visit; wearing appropriate clothing and footwear; ensuring all children are properly supervised at all times and by following any instruction and advice given by museum staff.
Accessibility
Wheelchair access to ground floor. Unfortunately we do not have a lift to the Regimental Museum on the first floor, but visitors can get a taste of those galleries through our Virtual Tour facility.
